Suggestions for Cheap Electric Combat Plane Kits?

Looking for an inexpensive electric combat plane kit that my buddies and I can order and build. Either full contact or streamer cutting combat is fine. A design that allows inexpensive swapping of electronic components onto a new semi-disposable airframe would be ideal. Between crashing and combat, we're likely to go through a bunch!

Thanks SpadHawk. The Hogwild looks like a great little plane.

We have been building and flying this plane for years. It's cheap to build and lots of information floating around several groups. You can build this combat plane airframe for about $1.00.

Thanks for the link dlw151947! I really like that plane. Perfect for what I had in mind. That's one of the best threads I've come across.

Do you happen to have a list of the components that you recommend on this build (motor, esc, servos, prop)?

Cheap is all relative. If you are looking for combat planes that fly well and are making contact at high speeds and surviving take a look at these videos.

I hear you Lee. I've had a Zagi wing in the past, and really liked it. I've never seen a plane take such a beating and then be able to dust it off and throw it back in the air. I want to have a couple options open, probably a wing and a scratch build foamie, to present to the guys that I fly with. We'll choose something and then go from there.

I have to agree with Lee. Just built my first combat wing (assassin) using a kit from crash test hobby and it's not just a foamie! This thing doesn't dent and because it's reinforced with extreme tape and 2 mil laminate it can take a beating. This was only my 2nd plane after a park flyer. The Assassin handled my learning curve with grace. First two launches were nose dives into my driveway. The next two were into the grass at the park before I learned to keep it in the air. After my first successful flight the landing resembled a lawn dart, except it bounced 10 feet. Picked it up and tossed it back in the air.

My favorite landing was with my kids around dusk. I was on approach, watching out for the kids, and accidentally bounced it off the top of a metal soccer goal stand. Everyone busted up laughing as it "pinged" off the top and rolled to a stop on the ground. without any repairs I took it out the next morning and tossed it in the air. Sure wish I had a video of that.

Anyhow, these planes are the reason I started RC flying. Cheap electronics, airframe like a B2.
