Question
Is it O.K. to step taxi?

I was just wondering if it was okay to step taxi or if it is a big no no.

I'm not sure if it's "OK", but I do it all the time and have never had a problem.

At organized float flies, there's usually a safety zone along the shoreline, say 50' wide, where you are expected to taxi at idle, or at least "off step". Outside of that zone, you can taxi fast or slow, just stay in the "pattern", and call your intentions loud enough for the other pilots to hear. Just the normal, common sense courtesies that you'd use at any field or fly-in.

Sometimes, step taxiing is the only way to get it turned around..If you're going faster than the wind, you make your own rules. But remember when you step taxi and turn, the ailerons will help you keep the wings level.
