Raidentech/Nitromodels Pitts .40 sized...

Does anyone have experience with this plane? Are any of the raidentech planes good quality for that matter?

http://raidentech.com/pisp40arfnig.html

And what about a smoke system for a .40 sized engine? I have an OS .40 from like 20 years ago, with stock muffler. What would I need?

Thanks, Scott

I just finished building mine. It went together very nice. It took nearly no adjustment to get things lined up right. I put the bottom wing in the saddle where it fit tight, measured and it was right on. The tail feathers worked out just as good. It feels like a very sturdy plane and looks great. I put a Magnum 70 4-stroke on it and it balanced out perfect. I am very happy with it. I have not flown it yet though.

I have never done a smoke system, but I dont think they work as well with smaller engines. That would be very cool though to have one on this plane

Thanks littlewing... The only thing on my mind now is will the OS have enough power? The engine is an OS max .40FP from years back. It says it should make 1.0 bhp. Does anyone know if that is enough for this plane. I fly at 6000 ft above sea level, and the plane is supposed to come in at 5.5 lbs AUW. Thanks guys, sorry I am still new to glow...

Scott

P.S. I would love vertical performance, but realistically, wha kind of climb rate will I get, as I doubt I would get vertical...

I don't think a 40 would quite do it. I would go with at least a .46 or even a .52
Just remember I put a the magnum 70 four stroke on and it balanced perfect. you may want to find something with the same weight. I have not flown it yet though so I cant really tell you for sure how it will perform. But 5.5 lbs. is a bit on the heavy side for a 40 size plane.

Especially at 6000 feet !!! Sealevel, yeah, different story.
It will fly, but sluggish.
Littlewing and I fly at about 5000 and a 46 is about the minimum we use.

Last Autumn, I took my trainer (46 engine, 5.1 lbs AUW) up to New Mexico at 8200 feet. Still OK, but barely would go straight up.
