Receiver Pack Battery Tester

I am looking for a simple battery tester for the receiver packs in my sailplanes, one that imposes a load on the battery. What do you use?

well worth the cost of an airplane vs a failing or low voltage RX battery pack.

best wishes, js

Brend, that's something I hadn't thought of. I haven't made the switch to 2.4 yet. Maybe this is my justification to do so. "Gee honey, I could waste $40 on a voltmeter or $800 on a new radio system."

I bought a few of the digital readout volt guages from Hobby King . Small enough to fit into the fuse and plug into the reciever. Turn on the recieve and move the controls a few times and you know exactly what your battery voltage is in real time. They were only a few bucks apiece.

One caution if you are using LiFe receiver pack. LiFe batteries have a very flat discharge curve which means that small inaccuracies in your voltage measuring device may result in large errors in interpreting the amount of capacity that remains in the battery..

Happy Landings,

Don
