On several occasions I have substituted such cranks with metal control arms. File a flat area on the rod and use loktite, and make sure to check regularly

Me-109 test flight

Today was the first.. Flew great and thanks to all of you for your tips.. I did "no flap" take off and landing and even at the 13 lb. gross weight it did fine..
What fun..
Sorry about the video quality.. We will get better later..

Someone had one of these at my field today. Looked great on the ground and flew amazing. Only issue with it was the pilot was powering it with glow so I could not see how it worked as a EP flyer.

I have one with an e-flite power 60 in the nose on 6S. Flies amazing! Very quick. I have had it a bit over a year, and the only problems I have had with it is from the e-flight electric retracts.

I am running the same setup here, power 60 on 6s using a 16x10 zoar prop. No complaints at from me. Flies with good power and authority. So far the retracts have been holding up pretty well for me, though I think I may have squeezed one of the struts with the little allen bolt in the gear door mount. The strut does not compress very well now.
