Will Traxxas decrease the price of the XO-1?

I am in love with the XO-1. But its out of my price range. Will they ever decrease the price? If not, is their another on road car just like it?

Thanks

I feel the same way. I've been researching this one at Amain Hobbies;
OFNA DM-One Spec E 1/8th Electric 4WD On Road Sedan

Then I found this one as well, 1/7th nitro. Can't find a brushless conversion for it though;
OFNA DM-One 1/7th Scale Pro Nitro Sedan MC-Type

My friend is getting the XO-1, so i want something for less than half the price that can go just as fast or faster. As it stands, it looks like I'm going with the DM-1 Spec E. It's a little shorter, but that's because it's an actual racer. Plus, I won't need a damn iphone or touch to unleash it's full potential.

^^ That 1/8th scale one with 6s and a 1717 will give ridiculous speeds too.

I'm not sure how much good the underbody actually does on the XO-1, but if it does help you'll probably find the OFNA gets light at really high speeds. You can probably make a good splitter/underbody/rear diffuser from scrap lexan if you wanted though.

No, there is nothing like the X01 out there. The chassis does a LOT for handling. You could probly get other cars up to 100MPH but they would be MUCH hairier at speed. I'd prolly go with something like that Ofna roller and get electronics from hobbypartz. Might not get you to 100, but it should definitely be quick enough to be fun and cost you a lot less.. Plus the X01 might not be all it's cracked up to be.. You (and your friend) might wanna check out squirrels review on youtube:

Traxxas X01 REVIEW: Vid 1- Initial/ Out of the Box Review (17 min 11 sec)

Traxxas X01 REVIEW: Vid 3- After run review (17 min 46 sec)

That being said I personally think that Traxxas will eventually drop the price on the X01 at least to $999. Even though it's got a lot of high tech stuff going on, $1100 is just too much for it IMO and I don't see the selling too many at that price though I could be wrong.

No, the price won't drop much, if at all. If you want one just cough up the cash for one.

You could build your own high speed car for less than 1/2 that price, and actually learn a thing or 2 trying to get up to speed. 80mph, 100mph, it's still silly fast and going to get trashed when you crash it.

Ofna 1/8 Ultra GTP2 EP Touring Car Kit 209$

FlySky FS-GT3B Digital 3ch 2.4ghz TX & RX LCD Transmitter & Receiver 39.95$

HobbyWing M1 Brushless 1/8 Combo w/ XERUN 19T 4168SL 2250KV & 80A ESC 135$ (give or take on the model)

Add a couple 7.4v Lipos, gear it up and good to start playing with the under 400$ package above......

i agree with y2k you can get to that speed for a bunch less than the xo-1 and the fact is mainly this few if any will have the space to get the traxxas to 100 before
A : loosing sight of it
B : loosing sight of it and it becoming a high doller humpty dumpty .
this car needs a 1/5 scale track to run on and even at that wouldnt make the top speed mark it sounds fun to say that you have a car that can run 100 mph but be honest with your self are you willing to take the chance on wasting 1000 dollers on a pebble ??? because that is all it would take to make you have a a verry expencive bad day .

Thats a good idea. Is it possible to buy the shell of the XO-1?

I saw one go on eBay for well over 300$, it was a parted out car.

People have gone alot faster than this car has with some tinkering and ingenuity.

You prob could go just as fast even cheaper with a used 1/10th TC3 and a High Kv Castle Creations on 11.1v geared to the moon.

However a larger car will be more stable and easier to keep track of.....

The XO-1 is 1/7th scale, so the body won't fit on much else out there.

Then again, take a Traxxas rustler, drop in a 2200kv Monster Mamba combo, gear it to the moon and fly down the street.....

How do you guys do it, I just ran my first nitro today after breaking it in. A Redcat S30 1/10 scale with .18 engine. Holy crap! I was unprepared for the speed, and it hadn't even shifted into 2nd gear! I wrecked it, fixed it, and ran again, this time getting just into second gear. Very fast for me, and this was only about 40mph I guess, why am I looking at 100mph cars?

Speed is addictive. For example:

Started with a 600cc bike. Seemed scary fast as hell....then got bored with it and moved to a 1000cc bike, then I still wanted more.....
