Building an ARX-540

Hey guys!

So I got a base motard kit with e-gyro from ebay last week, which should arrive shortly. Since then i've been searching my cellar to find some appropriate electronics. I'll be wielding ye old 3PKS with R603FS for this bike, no $80 RTR radio thank you.

I found 2 brand new Hitec 645MG Ultra Torque (10kg/0.2s) which I think will work as steering servo. If it doesn't I atleast have a spare.
I also found a Hobbywing 120A sensored with their 5.5T motor (6000kv) in an old 1:10.
That car also had some high performance batteries that should fit right in, Turnigy Nano-tech 2S2P 65-130c.

Originally I was going with a 3s 4500mah but it wont fit the described measurement of the battery bay, and after reading some more here it seems my setup might be too strong for 3s anyways.

From what I understand a pinion is supplied with arx kit, but will this work well with my setup?

I decided to order a front brake kit and the orange decals from ARmodelling.com, which I'm waiting eagerly for. I'm sure I can find a micro servo somewhere around. I also got the metal steering rods and triples, since the stock ones are plastic just waiting to snap.

I'll be taking this to the track as soon as possible, but from what I can tell it seems I'll need to tune it a bit before doing that. (Which is why I stopped competing in FG 1:5, doh)

When everything arrives I'd be willing to share some pictures of the build and answer any questions you might have. (I don't know anything)
In return I was hoping to get some tips and pointers from you professionals.

Dave
(I honestly can't believe this is my first post, ever.)

Well, I just hit a bump on the road. Apparently my hobby supplier is not allowed to send out any e-gyros since they have a design problem. I had to settle with the mechanical one until ARmodelling releases their new e-gyro.

I emailed ARmodelling and they confirmed this problem. I asked when they will have the new e-gyro in stock, but they had no idea when it will be available.

I guess I'll just sit here and wait the entire summer.

Sad since I "wasted" alot of money now on the kit and all the options, I'm even gonna have to pay like $50 more since it's a conversion from mechanical, whenever it becomes available. Feels like I could have gone with any other road bike. One with direct steering and real rims.

Sigh

I am pretty new to rc bikes as well. I do only on road as I built a large track at my house (gocarts, mini roadracers, 1/5 scale on road, ect... I started with a drx500 then moved to a sb-5 pro.

Just built the AR on road bike and I think the mechanical gyro is probably better for pure road use, as a fully spooled up e-gyro is harder to turn. I would assume dirt would be the opposite. Anyway have fun and enjoy. Can't comment on servo strength needed but probably be ok.

Well, thanks for the reply and input, but I managed to cancel the order from ebay.

I'm trying to cancel from ARmodelling, which is hard mainly because they have a hard time understanding my english, but also because they try to give great service - they have offered to build me a custom e-gyro, and send it to me next week since they don't have the new in stock. (Wow, who does that?)

However they don't have any bikes in, so I'll wait until then.
