First check the glow plug with the ignitor, it should glow bright orange. If the fuel has been sealed it should be fine. It sounds like you have it too rich, if its spittin out alot of fuel lean it a little bit. After motor break in you should lean the mixture a little bit, but not too much. its good for it to spew colored smoke when you punch the throttle. I have a 1st gen traxxas jato 2.5r, it runs like a dream.

Thanks. I got it sorted awile ago. The problem was two fold:
1. ignitor battery end cap wasnt screwed on all the way, so electrical contact wasnt made 2. wasnt getting any fuel - plugging the intake and pulling the cord a few times fixed that it now starts every time. it doesnt stop as fast as I'd hope, so going to install a more powerful servo so brake activation is stronger |
