Turnigy 1/16 Nitro Byggy - Newbie needs help

Ok, can't expect too much from $80, but tuning this.. I don't get it.
Fuel is absolutely gusting out of the exhaust no matter how I adjust the low/mid screw/needle. Even when I have it maxed in the throttle response is really sluggish.
It's hard to get the idle down. The high end I left flush while breaking it in (4 tanks more less at idle now). Any suggestions or links how to tune this tiny screamer?
Btw, damn I forgot how messy nitro is! Everything is soaked with fuel/oil

If it's puking out fuel and sluggish then the high speed is probably too rich.

At least you got yours started. I tried last night with no luck whatsoever.
I tried my turnigy AA starter which didnt heat the plug so well. I went to my tried and true D cell plug driver. It wouldnt start. Probably tried 100+ pulls.
The only concern I have is I used nitro fuel 1 year old. I had opened the gallon container , then resealed with the inner plug and child-proof cap. It was stored outside in the shade in the summer (25C max), and outside in the winter (0C min).
Could this be the culprit?

I'm using fuel thats a couple years old. Opened, replugged. No issues, but this is on a .12 as well.

First check the glow plug with the ignitor, it should glow bright orange. If the fuel has been sealed it should be fine. It sounds like you have it too rich, if its spittin out alot of fuel lean it a little bit. After motor break in you should lean the mixture a little bit, but not too much. its good for it to spew colored smoke when you punch the throttle. I have a 1st gen traxxas jato 2.5r, it runs like a dream.
Good luck to ya

Thanks. I got it sorted awile ago. The problem was two fold:
1. ignitor battery end cap wasnt screwed on all the way, so electrical contact wasnt made
2. wasnt getting any fuel - plugging the intake and pulling the cord a few times fixed that

it now starts every time.

it doesnt stop as fast as I'd hope, so going to install a more powerful servo so brake activation is stronger

Before you buy a new servo, double check that the brake disc isn't glazed over. If it is, just scuff it with some fine sandpaper.
