The Airplane from "Airplane!"

Who remembers the old Life Like American Airlines chuck gliders? They were great for all kinds of RC conversions. I've been sitting on my last one for several years and finally came up with a project worthy of it. It's the tied up airliner from the "Airplane!" movie poster.

OK, it's not a 707, but you get the idea. It flies pretty well. Of course it flew better before I added the huge knot, but it still flies well. Control is tailerons with HS-55s. Power is a Rimfire-250 with a GWS 5x4.3 and 3S-500 lipo.

More info is in this article.

Now, who knows where I can find more of the 757 gliders?

Terry

"Airplane!" is considered by many to be the funniest movie ever. I dont know about that, but it's definitely in my top 10. You should check it out. Get thee to a Redbox!

Yep - 'airplane' isn't a word in English English or Australian English.

OK people, we have people here with way too much time on their hands, lets get some brooms
and dust pans and clean this place up. If you don't have a broom, get a brush and bucket of paint
and freshen things up as needed.

It never ceases to amaze me how many model planes will fly if the cg is acceptable, the wing loading is reasonable, and it has a reasonable amount of thrust

It's the F-4 effect.
