SA G-480 or MM Firestorm or ???

I have an SA G-Ride parky that I have enjoyed for 4-5 years. Love the locked in "goes-where-you-point-it" feel that I gather is typical of the pattern category. I came from a MM Switchback with the 3D wing before that so I know MM.

Looking for something bigger (vision isn't what it used to be), 45-50" class. I imagine that the G-480 would have a very similar. The Firestorm is a deal at $130.

I am not opposed to an ARF if there is one that offers the same style of flying. The 47" Osiris caught my eye but it is shown as no longer available. Any other birds I should put on my list?

The super viper by 3dhs is a great flying plane. If you like building, the firestorm would be my vote as its a newer design than the etana or g 480. You won't go wrong with any of them. The viper will be a little heavier, the firestorm can be built with retracts or fixed gear, g480 and etana will be lighter as they were earlier designs.

Also might consider the MM Etana. About 45 inches, and just about 2 lbs. flying weight with a 3S/2200. Very happy with mine.

Hey, Jim -

I saw your comments on the Firestorm thread (I read the entire thread). As you can see from my location, we're almost neighbors!

I'm leaning towards the Firestorm but I am looking for additional input.

I'm sure the Firestorm is an excellent model. I've had my eyes on it for a long time.

The best pattern flyer I own is a 3DHS Aspera, the predecessor to the Osiris. Nice plane. You might find either of these models in the classifieds (RCG, RC Universe, etc.) from time to time.

Hyperion sells the Helios in 10e, 25e and larger sizes, it's quite a nice looker. I think I even saw them on sale for a while at allerc.com.

Extremeflight has the 48" Vanquish Mk II which is very similar to the Aspera.

Two more to consider. the Oasis from ValueHobby (51") and the Rainbow F3A A388, a large EPO foamie from HobbyCity.
