Lights are turning out better than expected! Am going to try to create a bubble to cover the tip lights and simulate scale lights. That will be a later add on. Thought hard how to do this then decided to just place the LEDs on then "scale" it up later with a blister. I think it will look close enough and add a "cool" factor to the plane. Working on a landing light now.

That is the left wing with a solid red and white strobe......camera picked up a slight blue hue on the strobe.

An now the landing light. Only going to do one wing. Once the lens gets mounted, it will reflect a bit more.

Have a look at this month's issue of Model Airplane News. There is a picture of Mike's RV-4 in Pilot Projects! Way to go Mike for making the cut!

There has been some concern over retinal damage from just that . Blue and white high intensity LEDs are the prime suspects . It is suggested to avoid looking directly into these LEDs at close range .
White LEDs are actually a blue LED placed under a phosphor coated lens . The phosphor is activated by blue to ultraviolet light and emits the desired shade of white . Not that the LEDs here present a huge risk , just a heads up .

Nice project too !

Thanks rcflyinff

I'll have to check that out, also a big thanks goes out to Rcwings for some of my inspiration.

I wish they had gotten my town and state correct! They must have an auto complete on their writing software and started to type my city and just accepted the first option that popped up.

Actually from Alexandria, MN

Cool! Glad I was able to provide some inspiration!

I did catch that address error, and thought you maybe moved. Checked the pics over a number of times to be absolutely sure it was yours!!!!

Got a little done on mine. Painted the wing tips, and threaded the strobe light wire through the stab. Hoping to start covering soon. Just need some time for hobby stuff.

Lights

Looking good RCwings, I kinda wish I had added lights. Oh well maybe the next build.

Currently building a scratch build F22, doing a foam composite with dual 70mm EDFs. Probably need to post build pictures in another thread though .

Well....that should move a little faster than an RV-4! Share the link to a thread if there is one, as I am sure a few of us here would like to check it out.

Best of luck with it!
