Fokker D VIII (Peter Rake)...trying my first scale...

Hi everybody out there !!!! I┤m onboard again.

As I told before in another thread, I┤m not a scale specialist...I have tried to finish my first biplane but I couldn┤t get the wings to be well aligned so I get a bit sad and the project was stopped . http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1385937
After several months thinking of what to do, I decided that a parasol or upper winged plane would be a nice re- start in scaling.
I ┤ve reading every post here and in Aerodrome Rc and trying to leran a lot form all your building logs. I enjoy building a lot (maybe more than flying), but because of lack of space and time I couldn┤t finish a lot of planes. My actual flying fleet are only 3 planes: A .40 cubic inches Fun Fly, a semi Scale 1/2 A IA -63 PAMPA, and a First Step (electric design from Ton Musteren published in RCME http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1574968 ). All of these planes and a lot more (non in flying condition are made from scracht).

When I started this plane I have noticed a lot aof thinigs:

1- never finished a scale model (my first wish)
2- never solder piano wire
3- never made a scale cockpit
4- my wings always have full span ailerons, and I never build one with ailerons and ribs.
5- this would be a nice small project for a bigger one

I also learned that finish or not, I must enjoy the build...this is very important.

Cheers to all you, wishing I can have some help from all you.

Paul.

Paul,
Looking good so far my friend. You might want to cut a slot for the fin tab to fit into though.

Thanks Phillip57 . Not as well as your wonderful job with the Spirit of S. Louis ; I ┤ve read all the thread, you are making a wonderful project. I have several photos of the San Diego reproduction, just let me know if they are useful.
I┤ve made two rudders, the first one was very bad so I made a second one. This is my frst try at "lamination".

Looking very good indeed Paul.

I've always liked this aircraft and have built a couple in the past - including an 8-foot version built by club members. They're always good flyers.

Take your time and you'll get it all done, look forward to seeing your finished model.

..and we're all wondering what colour scheme you're going to go with; simple or complicated

Regards
Harry

With the great help of Shnokey, I have started working on my first cockpit. I have made a simple sketch, and cut some sticks for making the lateral parts. The seat is cut from a foam cup of coffe.
