That is absolutely true - but I am assuming from his post that vette454 had an FrSky antenna bought with the DJT module. FrSky have chosen a particular standard. If the cemtre pin is missing that's not a standards problem it is faulty manufacturing. Or somebody supplied a bunch of incorrect antennae to FrSky.

A digital transmitter must use a RP-SMA plug, while an analog (video) transmitter must use a SMA plug. This was decided exactly to not allow users to switch antennas (by mistake) from a device to other.
Who does this on purpose already violates some laws and this is another story.

What particular standard has chosen Frsky ? They have RP-SMA as any router or all brand Tx modules, else would not get FCC...
I agree missing pin is not a standard, maybe for chinese QC
And BTW, Frsky does not manufacture any of their antennas, all are outsourced.

Correct assumption

Quality control issue - and who looks for a centre pin on an antenna when the install is straight from the box
