im a big sucker for vintage offroad rc's and would love to see what other members have to show off. heres some pictures of my growing collection. pictures taken in my bathroom because it has the best lighting in my apartment. most of these rc's i have updated with 2.4ghz radios, digital metal gear servos, modern escs, and run on lipos. enjoy

This is all I have left that I still have in my possession. It's currently torn apart in pieces in a box waiting to go back together one day.

I had one brand new when they first came out, as well as JRx2 Buggy. My first real RC kit was a Tamiya Frog. One day I will get the re-issue just to build for the office.

Wow, Monogram lightning. That was my very first RC I ever had. Was so long ago I forgot what it was called, but remembered in my head what the plastic body hold-downs looked like. I had a red one.

I had a little turbo Nikko too. Fun little car, and seemed quite fast at the time for 4 AA's

Vintage Jrx2 and JRX2-Pro's

Here are my 3 JRX2's. The red, white and blue one is an original JRX2 that I bought as a kit in 1989 - 90. The other 2 are JRX2-Pro's which are about the same but 1/2" longer. Of coarse I am always looking for more parts or Buggys and Trucks in the JRX2 line to play with.

I wish I hung onto my older stuff like that.

Are the inner rims cracking by the bearings? It was such a problem in the original kits...

I had one of the first sets of replacement ones, from a Trinity driver.

Wow! Your taking me back here. I had the radioshack toyota landcruiser around 1980. Shop was called Tandy here in Australia. Mine was green and had rubber sand tyres & rubber front wheels. Slow, but one of my first r/c's. Also I recall, a high/low button.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I have a soft spot for the JRX2. I built the first on with my little girl, she is 34 now. So I my grandson is taking her place. He is 6 and always wants to drive the JRX-Pro even though I also have a Traxxas Slash with the Venom motor which is a lot faster.

I never had any problem with cracked rims. But that is not saying it could happen.

Just finished "building" mine. Radio Shack 4x4 Off Roader with stock motor, locked diff, 2.4GHz, 2S 1300 Lipo, old Duratrax Blast ESC, and old Traxxas servo.

I had this same truck as a kid except blue, it was one of my first RC's! This version sure works a whole lot better than the original though! Next up is a light kit and a bit more weight to help it stick to the rocks. Also thinking about hooking up a servo to the 3rd channel on the radio so I can switch between low and high gear remotely.

Looks like I just added 1 more to the collection. Waiting for it to arrive. I think this one is going on the shelf after I change a few items.
