Just saw your video. Sad to see the US Airways 737's demise. I followed your build on this thread and was quite heart broken to see the aircraft go down. Did you reinforce the wings with additional CF? Take heart mate!

not sure what happened , was very windy 20+ with gusts you can
see the model bank almost 90 degrees as it caught a gust on take
off .
worst part is this happened during a demo flight in front of alot
of people

the wing came off at the engine , it appears to have gone back
starting at the leading edge Carbon rod .

it have a lot of flights on this model , but there were no cracks in the covering
and the other wing still shows no signs or cracks .

Can i buy the Remains ( to mod into a 737 900 ?)

Folding wings have been my biggest fears with foamies.

Thanks though, for the pics, this is helpful for us to analyze and figure out how we can strengthen that area on our own models.
Perhaps by an additional (third) spar like Doug W and others have installed as I am not sure if you did one as well?

Definitely bummed for the loss of your beautiful model.

I am deeply sorry- yours was a favorite of mine as well, and I would weep openly if structural failure took out either Wedgetail or my Alaska. I saw that you added outboard flaps on the post accident photos, but it appears perhaps there wasn't the additional spar? I can't tell so I don't want to pre-empt the NTSB findings, but based on the sound of power alone, you were in the heart of a high G turn when it snapped.

Regardless of flap mods, I believe that a third "false" spar must be added to the kit, and be carried through the engine pylon to prevent or at least forestall disaster. It is a beautifully engineered model, but all structures have a weakness- even mine. I still have never rolled mine, as I am fearful a poor roll followed by a high-G recovery will spell the end for my 737s.

Just wanted to mention you did a wonderful job on your Virgin -700. Please be careful on the maiden and bring her back in one piece- having built what would be considered an "early model" Windrider 737 (Alaska -700), I am just amazed on the leap in finishing quality and features in the last year or so.

it was only a model , next one is almost ready .

I did add the the extra carbon spar when I did the flap
problem is with the gusting wind and the wing damage
the wing looks to have gone down and back

waiting for some video taken by someone for a mag with
a really good camera , he was closer and it may show more
