Question
Welders glue

So I'm about to build my first 3D foamie. The instructions call for welders glue so I went to my LHS and they have never heard of welders glue. Can I pick up this glue somewhere else? Home Depot? Is there anything comparable? I want to get started on the build tomorrow.

Thanks

I have never used welders, but for EPP you can use a product called E-6000 which I hear is very similar. E-6000
You can find this stuff virtually anywhere. Walmart, Ace, Home Depot, etc...

Yes. CA is very brittle compared to the very flexible welder glue. I used it to build 4 different twisted hobbys 3d epp foamies and it works great. For a more instant stick you smear the welder glue on the surface to be attached put the two pieces together then pull them apart and leave them like that to let the glue tac up for 2 minutes and put the pieces back together. If you put it together wet it takes longer to dry. Welder glue is better for durability.

My TH Extra slick has a rip on one of the ailerons at the hinge. Any particular or preferred method on using this glue to re-secure. Thanks.

Just put some welder glue on the hinge and smear it across in a thin layer. Let it dry and you're good to go.

The Welders Glue Hinge (3 min 0 sec)

Excellent. Thanks for the quick response. Hopefully this goes as smooth for me as it does in the video.

Another tip is ti cut a 1 inch long piece of dental floss, cut a slit across the hinge line, near each end, and imbed the floss with welders glue across the hinge line. The floss will stop the tip of the control surface from starting to tear out again.

Nice. I will have to do that as my bird is getting worn and brittle.

I managed to dork my EPP Slicko Saturday, and a dab of welders and it's good as new. If you are getting really beat up, take a look at the Slicko....They should be back in stock before long, and I did a build thread for mine...
