You simply won't be disappointed using 7245's on HV in a 60" plane, performance is fantastic.
I have had Savox 1256TG's in a 87" gasser that I was not so pleased with the backlash. In fairness I got them when they came out and supposedly have replaced the gear set but beware.
I have been back and forth for servos for my new EF 78" MXS. I started looking at the 7954 and 7955's but I am seriously leaning on Savox 1270's after reading some independent testing that the HiTec's are over-rated on their torque ratings and the Savox came in within 5%.
Do not skimp on servos

Charlie add the Airtronics 94809 to the 48" EXP list, those have been excellent.

Okay, thanks!
I'm pretty sure the 87" SHP might be too large for the servos...??? On the 78," Tom Kitt loved them.

Other options:

60" size:

JR3421
Futaba 9650
EDIT: I also tried TGY-616MG and they are wickedly fast and center incredibly well. However, they only worked perfectly with the stock arms as other arms I tried caused jittering.

I'd be interested in hearing opinions on brushless mini servos.

I'm looking at these for 78"MXS build because servos last LONGER than the airframe so why cheap out:

HS-8370TH
Futaba BLS-452

I do have Futaba 9155s lying around that I will probably throw into a 78" Extra if EF doesn't release the MXS during this SEFF

I've seen the TGY616MG's and I am wondering if jittering is really that bad...
TGY616MG servo does not work (0 min 20 sec)

Also slop in the gears...

Yes it is that bad with any servo arms except the stock ones! Actually the first problem I had was related to ball link slop which magnifies the jitter. I tried them on my Beast 60e ailerons and my Edge 60 - each with different brands of servo arms. When they work they are wickedly fast and centering is dead perfect. I had 25+ flights on them Fri-Sun on my repaired Edge 60.

The slop I have not experienced.... yet. Bug me again in a few weeks.

Would I buy them again? Probably not. They were my first experience with HV servos 6 months ago... I would not recommend them for a 3D airplane.

That's always good advice, of course.

However, we should probably at least add these Hobby King HK-752MGs to the list.

I mean, good grief, look at that price, and the specs seem too good to be true. Scroll through the reviews and you'll see that they're generally good.

Maybe some day somebody reading this thread will have tried them and report back, but for now they're an unknown quantity.

I'll probably order some soon, but I won't test them in my Laser 60 or soon-to-be-ordered Edge 60. I have a 48-inch scratchbuilt flat-sheet foamy biplane that'll be a good test bed.

HK deleted all my comments and review about the 616mg jittering problem. I was about to toss them in the garbage until I tried them on the Edge.

Yes, yes, yes, yes!!! I have some 752's in the MXS right now and LOVE them. Very high torque. Unfortunately they are more like .12 or .13 sec but definitely worth the money. 0 jitter, 0 slop, and this has been over about 300 flights for a year. Very happy with those servos from HK. Probably the only purchase I'll be satisfied with though :/
But get them!!!!

Kind of on the subject...but as for arms, what is a good alternative to the DuBro arms? Mine are still tight, but I know it's only a matter of time. I'd prefer metal arms with a clinch bolt, like SWB or the like. Anybody know of any that are compatible with the stock pushrod/ball links?

For reference, 60" EXP and 5245's.

These might be, I guess:

Servo City 55707 single arm

Has anybody tried them?

I'm using the Hi Tec PN55709 arms, but I also like the SWB arms. I don't know which SWB to recommend because I called, told the guy what servo I was going to use, and he sent me the right arm. Just call them. the guy that runs the place is really helpful.

One thing on the SWB arm is that they are drilled for 440 bolts. You have to use a 2mm bolt and double nut it. Works fine.
