My close pals know how I feel, but I will share my thoughts on clubs and other fliers.

I only belong to one club, and fly there a few times a year, all good guys.

But....... I am really tired of most clubs mentalities. I have been lucky enough to meet 2 of the coolest pilots in the world. One is from Michigan a young 3D pilot I met at the AMA anniversary, and the other a young kid from Ft. Wayne In. These kids are our future in aero-modeling. But one of these kids were kick out of a club because he flies 3D. These old farts think that hovering is un-safe, but I witnessed at this field a old fart take off and fly over the pits and then the parking lot with out ever yelling heads-up!!!!!

I love building, I love flying, I love flying with anyone who loves to fly at any age. I am going to be 50 next year so I am a old fart, but I feel I am a KEWL old fart, at least that is what my little girl and dog thinks.

Not to start a war here, but I have had so many people attack what I am doing and judge what I am doing from reading 1-2 pages here, instead of taking a week or two and seeing what I have put into this.

Now..... I am not aiming this at any one person, or post here. But I see so many war bird guys that build great models and suck at flying, but I then also see those sitting in lawn chairs judging some kid with a chopper, or 3D plane. I wish those that judge would just go to the local Dennys and talk about how the Grand Slam is to cold.........

Sorry for the rant, I just know 110% how you feel................ most clubs suck as there is always the good ole boy network who has to put their judgment on others. Anything that leave the ground is cool, and any age that wants to get involved is cool.

And lastly......I have had awful e-mails telling my I am out of my mind for flying my PZ F4U in the street for my 4th of July kids airshow. I have a million extra dollars of umbrella insurance through my home-owners just because I fly. And all my neighbors I fly over are having a drink and watching the airshow.

Rock ON!!!!!!!!!!
DAG
Hi Dag,
It's been awhile since you posted this, but you were doing those kids a favor flying your PZ Corsair for them. It put them front and center and made this wonderful hobby available to them to watch.
Many of them may never have seen model airplanes fly otherwise.
I like you fly off of a vacant lot in my addition next to a 43 acre farm field, and the local kids like to come over and watch and ask questions. I have showed them how things work and even handed several of them the TX on a couple of my real slow flying old timers and coached them a little.
It builds their confidence that they can do this sort of thing and it's not all
special skills or magic.

My next project is a Chet Lanzo Record Breaker( an old timer 96 inch wingspan ) ( electric powered) with lots of LED lights for night flying and I hope the kids come out!

Let me put it this way Dag, when you fly in your neighborhood and the kids watch or they stop by and look at your B-36 , you are an "ambassador" for this great hobby!

Maybe you'll light a "spark" in one or more of these kids who will pursue aviation because of you!

Rock on Dag!

Hey all,

Sorry for the AWOL.

I have never been so slammed in my life. For the first time in 11 years my family is on vacation this week and I could not go with them, just to busy......

I was hoping to get the Emmaselle landing gear fixed so I could go to NEFI this weekend but not sure I can even do that.

It will most likely be July before I can get caught up or make a change to how busy I am.

And thanks for all the great comments......

Thanks, DAG!!!!!!!!

Hey Dag! .. You don't need our leave to take absence . it's your life dude
I know it sucks not to be with your family on vacation but after all your only a young 'un. There will be plenty of future holidays to enjoy.

Regards.
Dave.

Me too! This is a hobby, a recreation and enjoyment. Of course, I'm a perpetual builder and flyer -- never finishing one before starting another......

It sounded like all 32 were hitting to me. Some of the cylinders were cold but that is to be expected for a first fire.
