Ultimate X3- Va-models full fuselage EPP Aerobatic Bi-plane.

Hello all,

Just came back home from work and guess what the brown truck have delivered today
Yup, the new Va-Models Ultimate X3 is finally available for us in the States. 2 colors to choose from, Red or Yellow
Like many other Va-Models Epp planes that i have acquired since last year, this particular model is no difference in term of quality and it definitely is a great aerobatic R/C bi-plane as i had a chance to test fly the lastest prototype a while ago. Top that with excellent before and after sales supports that EppHobby and Gr8Skyhobby provide, makes it no brainer at all. Those who have pre-ordered are surely in for a treat! If you haven't ...well, don't wait and get yours today!

It is very important to keep in mind that dry fitting is very important before commiting yourself to gluing, cutting, trimming, etc. If it is your first time building an Epp plane, please take your time and ask if you are not sure.

I am hoping to be able to build the X3 and have it ready for a maiden within 5 hours. First off, i will start with checking and centering up the recommended power package.

Allright, let's open the box and see what's inside....

Wingspan :1010 mm
Length :1050 mm
AUW : 650-720 g (dep. on the RC equipments)

X3

Mine showed up yesterday ( thanks Willy ) cant wait to get started . Good job starting the thread Mark. Any thoughts on the C.G. yet , I know I have moved most my other VA planes CG back. I just built a Nieuport 28 scale type plane I put the CG where the plans said and man was I glad to get it back on the ground. I ran out of down trim and the nose was still pitching up and very twitchy. One of the guys at the field said he liked to balance bi-planes on the leading edge of the bottom wing. My CG was about an inch behind that I will be moving it up. I Guess all that would depend on how much the wings are staggered. I'm going to make sure I rough up my aluminum rods this time so they don't slip. looking forward to flying it.

Randy,
Thats a nice looking Nieuport! Where did you get it? I have been wanting to have a bipe warbird! The manual calls for 105-110mm behind the LE of the top wing. We will see if we need to move the CG back or not...

Joe.

Hi Joe I bought the kit here on RC groups but it comes from a place called Maxford USA . Like how the kit went together , but doesn't give you that warm cozy feeling in the air. The Albatros may be a better flyer. Hope to get going on the 3X this weekend . My club is putting in a new runway and its been eating up some of my time. Maybe I can finish the Bipe the same time as the runway that would be nice. Keep me posted on the CG. Im going to use corona 919 digital servos a AXI 2217/16 motor and a CC thunderbird 36 esc.

I haven't started mine yet but if its like the other VA's I've built the aluminum rods glue in slits you cut in the top and bottom of wing. This will really stiffin it up. Be sure to rough up the aluminum with a little sand paper .
