RobotBirds (Uk) sells this cute little EPP kit from POTENSKY.

The plane is already painted. There are no landing gears. Too bad for a Gee Bee R3!!!
Otherwise, the kit is nice. The right wing has an aileron, while the left wing doesn't have any. I've read on forums that it works, but i'll have two ailerons.

My goal is to bring some improvements in order to have a semi scale plane:

Add landing gears
Add flying wires
Replace the canopy by a transparent one
Install a pilot

The airframe is very light: 22g.I would like to build a light airplane, so it could fly indoor and outdoor.

I will use:

- a DT RX (the AR6400 doesn't fit in the narrow fuselage).
- 3 x 1.7g servos

I've got a Tiger 1302 motor and a 1 S ESC, but i think that the AUW will be too high for this little motor.

I also have a 6g motor and a 2S ESC that could suit. We'll see.

Interesting model! any chance for some more pics? Maybe of that narrow fuselage (is it hollow already?.. I'm asking because I notice that the motor seems mounted outside the fuselage.)?

About your statement that a AR6400 won't fit inside the narrow fuselage, have you fought of mounting it vertically?

The fuse is not hollow. There are some holes to install the servos, rx, etc...

a part of the fuselage is removable and will hide the rudder and elevator servos + the RX (see pictures).

I have thought about mounting the AR6400 vertically, but this is not convenient, especially for the rudder and elevator linkages.

I 've already my DT RX and my servos.

I've installed the servo for the ailerons.

I'm planning to use an XP-7 ESC with light wires and an AP05 motor on 2S.

I have to work on the landing gears. I've bought spare parts of the UMX Gee BEE R2.

They are quite heavy (15g) but i don't want to bother to build them.

A little more progress. I've carved into the wings to "insert" the landing gears, because the plastics pieces that holds them have the curvature of the UMX Gee Bee R2's wings.

The flying wires are partially installed.

I'm waiting for the AP05 motor. Meanwhile, i'm working on the canopy. I've searched for a blister that could fit, but i didn't find one.
I'm thinking of making a mold and try to make my own canopy.

Here is a the canopy mold made with some plaster. I have used a plastic canopy (from a FF model) that was not long enough. I've added a bit of lenght.

I hope i'll be able to form a new canopy with it...

Nice the canopy! I can only be envious of your molded canopies (compared to my usual 'depron-non-see-through').
Is it just heated to take form?

I will use a piece of plastic and heat it in my oven, then plug the mold in it. I haven't any peculiar skills at doing canopies, so i guess i'll have to try many times to get something correct.

Why would not you try? A clear canopy really makes a difference and it worths the effort.

The AP05 arrived 2 days ago, and i have installed it in the plane.
I'm using an XP-07A ESC.
The fuselage being narrow, i've cutted in a triangle shape the motor mount and carved the foam in order to insert the motor.

The Rx is installed and the ailerons, the elevator and the rudder are working fine.

I will have to determine the CG location.

I still have to make the pilot and the canopy...

I've tried to make a canopy with a clear shrink tube. I'm not completely satisfied because it is opaque and quite heavy (2.2g).
It was just a try, to see if it could be an alternative to the traditionnal method.

I use a hair dryer.
