Anyone seen or used these batteries?

http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-NCR1.../dp/B00CB8PGOE

I had a friend of a friend put 3 or 4 of those together in series made it with a connector and balance lead. He was getting INSANE flight times with 3/4 to 4/4 power on his plane. I'm talking around 36 min flight times.

Got almost a 44 minutes of flight crusing... Amazing.

Must be a small plane or motor? Looks like from the Q&A and specs they will only give 3-5 amps. Where a 50c 3s 3300 batt has
Output: 165 amps continuous, 330 amp burst

Possibly a little classic "friend of a friend" exaggeration there . Most people who try them find they can't deliver nearly enough power or if you use enough of them to get the current you need they're very heavy.

But if you have something that can fly on only 5A give it a try. BTW 44 minutes cruise would mean he was using less than 4A .

A wing similar to this.

Maybe to most of you it's no big deal... But to me in certain kinds of conditions on certain planes that's freaking awesome!

as has already been pointed out - the amp draw will have to be very small. its the airframe that gives the long flight times. consider a glider - then you can have long flight times. a warbird, like your t-28, relies on its motor a lot more. you won't get duration on that. there's no free lunch.

So? If I put a standard LiPo 3S 3400mAh battery in my Bixler I'd expect to be able to do the same flight time for a fraction of the cost and have the high current when needed. What is supposedly so special about these over priced batteries?

I guess nothing... Pure crap...

On that note... The USPS is crap to. Priority express 2 day mail is actually 5 day mail 7 if you include sat, sun. No wonder why they are losing money. If company I orders parts from used UPS I'd have in 2 days.

I seriously dislike the post office.

Relative to me, I can't remember a time they got something on time. Same with FedEx, UPS for me has been spot on.

since we are voting: UPS, USPS +1, Fedex -1.

I'm working from memory, but the guy who posts the MyGeekShow videos on youtube just did a one hour flight with four of these batteries in a flying wing. I believe he said the energy to weight ratio versus lipos was something like 2 to 1.

did some extrapolation using:
http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...gle_Cell_.html
and
http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...gle_Cell_.html
data to estimate the weight of a 3400 mah lipo. came out to 80 g.

with 2 cells per Amazon package, weight of an Amazon cell is 45 g.

so yeah, about twice the energy per weight ratio. IF you're happy pulling 5A on your setup. just like my cellphone is pretty useless in powering my plane, i wouldn't use these cells to power my plane either.
