I'm annoyed I giggled when I saw the title to this thread. I'm glad you're doing a Japanese airliner(I know you're not going the Japanese paint, but still) this time.
I think I'm going to enjoy watching this one come together more than the others.

DD, I don't know the rationale behind fixed gear on maiden vs retracts, can you elaborate?

Ohh that's easy it's called $190-200.oo bucks for servoless retracts, thats my rationale Ruff1. If I had the money I'd put retracts on all my jets, I'd rather buy EDf's than retracts.

Yikes, didn't realize they cost that much. I guess with the "heavies" you build you better have something substantial...

What sort of flight times do you expect? I'm assuming you get scale performance or maybe just a bit more?

I wish it was warmer here in Chaelston SC Ruff, I can't belive I'm saying that! then I would have flown my One eleven again, but I hope to get 4-8 mins of flight time depending on throttle usage, as for performance the L-1011 will weight in at 8-10 lbs with 15lbs of thrust on the L-1011-200 & 12lbs of thrust on the L-1011-500 "shorter fuselage" & it will not have a tail EDF but it will be 3 EDF ready like the 1011-200.

Another exciting build subject. Have watched all your airliner threads. I take my hat off to you for your skill and determination. On a personal note, my father worked in Saudi Arabia for several years when I was a kid and I frequently flew on Tristars back and to from the UK. Have a look at my Flight Sim screenshot, ah the memories. Saudia livery, climbing out of Jeddah International 1982. This thread certainly takes me back.

The Tristar was a brilliant wide bodied jet.

Best of luck with your project.

Thankyou Ash! It's builders like you that give me the encouragement to build the best jet Airliners I can.

Thanks DD... I think your build threads give us a great idea of how to go about this. I have wanted to build an EDF airliner, but that may be a few years off.

Are you or have you considered some kind of "large build" ebook?
