TowerPro MG90.
Now discontinued unfortunately
The new/replacement digital MG90D are terrible, just awefull (all 4 of them) . Not smooth , and long servo arms makes the travel even less smooth (jerky rotation)
So now I need to find a new (cheap) brand of Metal gear servo

For cheapy, light foamies
HXT900 , or HXT500 (sold by hoobyking, made by TowerPro)

I've used a bunch of Tower Pro SG90 (9 gram) servos ordered from eBay for around $3 each and haven't had any problems with them.

I buy them as HXT 500 and 900s from Hobby King, ten at a time. The gears in these are about twice as thick in these as other servos of the same size. You have to really work at it to strip them.

Hextronic (HXT) fan here as well - including their larger servos.

I usually buy mine from Heads Up RC. Great online service! Tower Pro are the cheaper ones. Spend a little more money.

I have been using the hxt 900 without any problems for a few years on a mus and a 450 class trainer. I also read somewhere that the other opies of the hxt are not as strong or as well built.

For the twisted hobbys planes I would recommend to use a Hitec HS65hb or HS65mg on Ailerons and Futaba s3114 on elevator and rudder.
This combination survived over 500 flights with 3D abuse and still goes strong. Good positioning accuracy and position repeatability. I used it on the Crack Laser and MXS-c.
For the Edge 540 v3 I wanted to try cheaper servos. I bought the DS65hb. While okay on elevator and aileron it is not durable enough on rudder (with combined thrust vectoring control). I already replaced the gears two times.
Next time everything will be replaced by the Hitec/Futaba combination mentioned above.

For those of us who look for less expensive alternatives, I have been using these for some time with very good results.

Hope this helps.
