FW 190 D9......... ultra micro?

Hi all, starting a little project that was supposed to be a winter project but has been dragging on for various reasons (availability of parts, earlier setbacks killing interest, blah blah).

This came about after looking at a lot of the Ultra Micro's and wanting a FW so much, and no one making one. My brother has the Corsair, and I have the Mosquito, both are really close to 1/32 so I went out and got a Hasegawa plastic kit to start planning.

Materials:
Hasegawa FW190 D9.
-This will be used for a lot of reference and moulding parts such as the gun cowel and other hard to manufacture parts depending on the weight of the material I may also mould the tail since the vertical stab is part of the body
1mm and 3mm depron
-Basic construction and control surfaces
The wing from a UM T28 Trojan
-The 1/32 scale FW190 wing fits perfectly inside this wing between the leading edge and the flaps. I will be cutting the 190 wing out of the T28 wing which also has some extra bulk on the bottom which may come in handy later.
P-51 AS3X Rx
Corsair motor, motor mount/gear, prop

Early planning and skeleton pictures will be added tomorrow when I'm not as lazy.

Great you are designing/building one. Should be a great build.

But must correct you about no one offering one for sale.

Roger that, I did see the alfa model d9. It is a little larger than I wanted I think. The wingspan at 1/32 is only about 12 inches. FW's were actually pretty small planes compared the the F4U with a 1/32 wingspan of approx 16 inches.

The link to the plans I am using: http://static.rcgroups.net/forums/at...g?d=1169713350

I cut the image up to fit the side view and the spars on one legal sheet in photo shop and resized the image so the length would be the same as the 1/32 model. This solved a couple of annoying things on its own. To cut the spars 1mm smaller to account for the skinning with 1mm depron I just had to cut the inside of the line. Due to the resolution and the enlargement the lines come out to 1mm, the outside of the line being the size of the plane and the inside being 1mm less. Or if you trust me you can use mine.

I am only manufacturing the fuselage from B to J. Infront of B is the engine cowell which will be moulded. Behind J is the tail which will also be formed out of a cast and some kind of expanding foam product.

The skeleton of the fuselage is half assembled, balsa may come into play to put some spars in lengthwise. The balsa is to keep strength and form later when I have to cut out some of the foam skeleton to make room for the Rx, battery, motor mount. Will post more soon,
