Anderson M5 Race won't turn at speed?

I picked up this new in the box Anderson M5 Race off ebay recently.
My first road bike...

Just finished converting it to brushless and tried it out this morning. It goes pretty well on a 4370kv motor and 2S but it just won't turn unless I slow it right down.

I noticed that the steering damper is pretty soft allowing the front wheel to move left and right without much pressure, could that be the problem?

Cheers and Happy New Year everyone!
Ben

It was the only spare servo I had laying around.

What spec servo should I be looking for?

Along lines (but need to use an external bec for true 6v or 7.4v to get best from servo)

Isn't that servo a bit OTT?
The damper shaft is moving at least 5mm by hand before the driving the current servo so I'll try and stiffen that up a bit first before buying another servo I think.
Using a Flysky GT2B radio.

Never! that's a good starting point that spec servo, bike has weight so need good kg rate an speed. If was sr4 need to use higher kg an torquey servo. Gt2 is limited to adjustments, swith radio to a gt3b or c (still can use current reciever)

I still think the damper is pants but thanks for the advice.

Is there a big thread on these bikes like there is for the M5 Cross and SR4? I couldn't find one...
Would like to see what mods have been done to this bike. I'll be shortening the windshield on mine, it's too tall and I've scratched it all to hell anyway doing wheelies and flipping over..

Nah, no front brake.

I think it's going to take me awhile to learn how to control this bike. It's a completely different skill to motocross bikes.

Ben, you don't tell anything about if you're using the rear gyro or not.

The faster the bike, the bigger gyro effect and harder to make it turn. Remove all internals from rear wheel and you'll find current steering damper setting works without an issue.

Other tip, get the soft rear tyre and add some lead tape to rear wheel after gyro has been removed.

I'm using this damper on my SR4 - I've found I can totally change it's feel / set up by first changing to a thicker/ thinner oil or changing the spring tension inside the damper - harder / softer or you can change both for a full customized set up . Sometimes the factories forget to put any oil in dampers or shocks during production .

Perfect, thanks!

Learnt a lot from reading those threads. I'll be removing the gyro once I've got the hang of controlling the bike but first I need to stiffen up the damper. There's also the option to change the rake of the front forks which I didn't notice before..

I'll be over the park tomorrow if the weather is good. Flying in the morning and running the bikes after that..

Was raining all day today so modified this M5. I adjusted the rake of the forks backwards for better turns (I hope), stiffened the damper, mounted some nylon rod for a wheelie bar, cut 25mm off the windshield and moved the rider forward.

What do you think? I much prefer the look of it this way..
