29,000 a year = 69,000 a year ... a good racket is what it is.

How cool. I suspected gaming the system was going to be a growth industry in America. Look for websites and e-books, or start you own! Heck, the USDA will probably buy ad space on your website to promote food stamps!

As the above chart – via Gary Alexander, Pennsylvania’s secretary of Public Welfare — shows, the single mom is better off earning gross income of $29,000 with $57,327 in net income and benefits than to earn gross income of $69,000 with net income & benefits of $57,045.

More free stuff!

Thanks to a mild winter, vouchers for up to 700 free air conditioners may be available to low- and moderate-income families through the Lorain County Community Action Agency, according to interim President and CEO Jackie Boehnlein.

“It is exciting,” said Boehnlein about HEAP — the Home Energy Assistance Program’s Summer Crisis Program — which is funded by federal taxpayer dollars.

The agency already has distributed vouchers worth $250 to 325 families, she said.

A family of four making up to $46,100 qualifies for the program.

There was a time when minimum wage earned you more income than welfare, and so the incentive was to get a job because it paid better than welfare.

But now ... why even bother when doing nothing can still get you nearly 45 grand in government benefits?

It's very simple.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

A job paying $29K is doing nothing?
I also doubt someone earning $29K could get a $69K job even if they wanted one (and who doesn't)?

Look at the chart ... try and open the link and read.

Doing nothing, still can get you nearly 45 grand in government benefits.

Making 29 grand a year lets you get nearly the equivalent of a job that pays 69 grand a year ... so where is the incentive to doing more than 29 grand a year?

More good news! Obama by executive action has gutted a key feature of Bill Clinton's welfare reform legislation that actually did something good for the country.

When Obama said he was going to remake America he wasn't kidding - for the worse!
Quote:
Today, the Obama Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released an official policy directive rewriting the welfare reform law of 1996. The new policy guts the federal work requirements that were the foundation of the reform law. The Obama directive bludgeons the letter and intent of the actual reform legislation.

Today the Obama Administration issued a new directive stating that the traditional TANF work requirements can be waived or overridden by a legal device called the section 1115 waiver authority under the Social Security law (42 U.S.C. 1315).

The welfare reform law was very successful. In the four decades prior to welfare reform, the welfare caseload never experienced a significant decline. But, in the four years after welfare reform, the caseload dropped by nearly half. Employment surged and child poverty among affected groups plummeted. The driving force behind these improvements was the rigorous new federal work requirements contained in the TANF law.

The more people on welfare ... the larger the Democratic voting base ... the math is simple.

This is not about morality ... more so than it is about enabling.
