dd continues

Thought I'd update progress on 1:35 dd. I have worked on it on and off since Feb 2008, not to discourage anyone but try to avoid going too large, unless you have somewhere to moor. I don't recall what I ever imagined I would do with this when I was done, but maybe that's the point, it will never be done...

It has two 12v garden tractor batteries now, on sale 14.99 ea at menards. Will get it in the water this summer I promise. Cap

Lookin' good! At 10 3/4 feet, that sho 'nuff is a lot to heft around.

What do you reckon the finished weight will be ? Do you
plan to use water ballast ?

Be sure to include pics of the trailer rig you'll use to tote it.

Cap, glad to see your still on it. Matter of fact it looks like you've done a heck of a lot since you last posted. Keep those progress photos coming. You know how much we like them.

Cap, good to see you back. Don't forget its not just large "on and off" projects that seem to take forever My 1:24 junk has been sitting in the front hall as a home accessory collecting dust for the past 8 months. Perhaps we can have a race to see who's bottom gets wet first.

She's looking good, mate!

Hi all, I'm figuring on about 125 lbs Steve, no water ballast, at least not intentionally. I used 1 gal milk jugs filled with water the previous times I had it in water, but the deck wasn't there yet. The two lead batteries will help a lot, there are two plaster cast blocks with lead shot in the bow, I'll probably have to add some more. No trailer, yet, hoping I can fit it in someones van or pickup. I put it on top of my car once, but it was much lighter then, and I have a different car now. I'd like to have a kayak or other boat to pilot from for several reasons, would have to avoid a careless collision though, the kayak might not win that contest.
Great anchors SH, and web site too, I may be interested in one of the anchors,
I've not gotten further than the wax model from a year or two ago, will look the over some more. Hi Pops, Foo, Hermill and all. Cap

Hope you have an easy way out of the basement! That window in the background looks mighty small.
