Ok so I picked this boat up with all stock electronics & radio dirt cheap as it was dropped & damaged on the front end so I decided to make it into a project. I laid fiberglass on motor mount area with epoxy & micro balloons as the ABS seamed too thin in the center tub to add a bigger motor. I kept stock motor mount & just redrilled it. The motor is a NEW Reedy 2-pole 35.8mmx45mm 3300kv (45amp draw so I kept stock 50amp esc) with Aquacraft water cooling coils. It's the motor that comes in the sc10 short course truck I got from a fellow member. Octura coupler 1/8" to .130 flex cable. Impulse 3s 11.1v 25c 2500mah Lipo battery. I also removed one of the rudders (left side) & sharpened the other rudder. bottom sponson's were wet sanded with 600 grit sandpaper. I plan too start with stock prop until I get a prop shim too run bigger props & then plan too test m445, x640, x643-3blade etc... with the hobby king K1 RPM & KV reader I just got. Any suggestions or comments good or bad are welcome!!

You're going to want to start really small with props running 3300kv on 3s... The stock prop is 42mm on 1800kv, you've almost doubled the kv so you're going to want to run less voltage or less prop.

Just a heads up on the amperage, just because the motor is rated for 45a doesn't mean it's going to draw anything close to that. 45a is the highest amperage it's efficient at, but if the load is high enough it'll draw WAY more.

You may want to consider a bigger capacity battery as well with a motor that size. 2500mah won't give much runtime.

ok thanks for info I do have venom 2s 5000mah but I have a bunch of 3s 3000mah Trunigy packs. run time not so important. I just like to make a few passes. or I also have m440, x640, x435, y535

I would start as small as you have with almost double the kv over stock.

I have the Wildcat myself and even with the stock motor and stock prop that ESC gets quite hot. So with that motor it is almost sure to over heat. BTW I run 3s 2200mah Gens Ace 30C packs and with the stock setup they get warm (not hot) and I net about 5-6 min. run time.

That motor pulls about 40Amps on stock SC10 on 2S I believe. Considering the boat is direct drive and if you use the stock prop you would hit in the 70-80amp range i would bet. This is fine if you can keep that motor cool enough. The ESC will not be up to the task though.
