Prop suggestions 46" mono 5692

Hi guys,

As per the title I am really after some advice on what prop to use for my latest build, this is my first HV build and I am using a Leo 5692 - 740kv on 12s

Boat is a mystic style 46" mono (41" plus overhang) not after ballistic speed as this needs to be reliable and handle some chop so 50-60mph will be fine, esc is a fightercat 300a 16s

Was thinking of an x457/3? Am I on the right lines?

X455, x457 two blade..........the x457/3 will draw some big amps, buit will also get it up to the ballistic category you dont want to be in.

A lot depends on what you want it to do. A 457/3 will pull over 200 amps on 10s with a castle 2028 780kv. It might hold together for a few saw passes but wouldn't expect it to live long.
With the 35k +- it should be spinning with 12s it could be impressive in short bursts but suspect it would live a short life. I'd rethink to about 10s for a more reliable setup.

I haven't seen the hull in person Matt, so it's tough to get an idea how large it is. The fast that it is 41" to the overhang makes me think that Scorp's prop choices are about perfect. If it were 46" to the transom, I would say x460.
My "50" mono actually measured about 46" to the transom and a x457 was barely enough on it. That hull was built to be a gasser and was significantly larger than something like a a DF 41". I'm thinking your hull is going to fall somewhere in between the two, and a x455 or x457 should get you where you wan to be.

I have learned with some of the really big monos that you can actually pull a little less current using a bigger prop if the smaller props are having trouble lifting the boat out of the water. I like your motor choice because you could always prop up and drop the voltage if you need to.

Thanks for the advice the x457 2 blade seems to be a popular opinion however the voltage doesn't with some saying 12s will be too much for this motor although I've always been lead to believe 30k rpm is about right?

All my packs are 3s so I have the choice of 9/12s!

Here's a pic of the hull

Do yourself a favor and make at least the 1st couple of runs at the 9s level. It's a lot easier to get handling sorted out at a lower power level and it will be a lot easier on your motor, esc and driveline as well.

Yep still think it was a little "off" as it should t stop me putting up a build thread as i have nothing to do with the guy who builds these hence I've come over here!

I've ordered an X457 and will start off with 9s and see how I get on, will start a build thread too once my parts arrive
