For me it's the stretched end-to-end 8-10 second slow roll performed on a fast low pass inverted at show center. It's not a competition maneuver but definitely the pattern show maneuver of that era.
Pretty much all of the maneuvers we mentioned in this thread are in this video - Chip Hyde with Dr. Jekyll:
He started with a stretched slow roll followed by the reverse point roll. What an inspiration to watch from one of the best! After consecutive rolls and the obligatory figure M, he moved on to the TOC maneuvers of the day - rolling circles, rolling loops and ended with a knife edge loop which was very special at the time. Those first 5 maneuvers are pretty much what classic pattern is about! This was the long stroke era but he flew it fast, just like how we remembered it for classic pattern... ![]() Matt |
