Need help on how to connect an AR6400 for brushed.2S motor

Back in August there were several posts related to using 2S power on a brushless ESC all driven by an AR6400.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what brushed esc can be used with a 2S power source to power a brushed 8 volt motor?

I have an old unused brushed esc (ElectriFly C-12 Micro ESC 2-3 LiPo), but its output voltage reads 5 volts on my meter, and the AR6400 only wants 4 volts.

And I do not need to use that esc and another would be acceptable.

Also a schematic would be appreciated.

Thank you for your ideas and assistance.

go to radioshack , look for a diode like 1400n or n1400 or n1004 .. some mix of thos LOL
sorry i forget .. LOL

anyhow , if you look it will have a just over 1v ..look for one that can take teh amps you need to draw and has a forward voltage drop of just over 1 V
shoudl be a wee pack of 2 ... now go home power uo your esc , ( only ) ,
put the diode on the RX supply/bec pin (centerpin) . and test the output with your meter .
if you did it rite you shoudl be supplying your ar4600 with 3.5 -3.7 v ? if i remember .
if nothing flip the the diode end for end .

I think I bought 1N4003 diodes, the white band on the diode goes toward the 6400.

^^^ yeah that's it ..
ieach diode inline dropps voltage ,
i theory you could run a 3s esc & motor with enough diodes. LOL
trick is getting V drop correct is all .
the ESC wil LVC on it's own so it sorts itself.

was thinking of trying to make UM p47D , to hold a 5g HK brushless in direct drive using a plush ESC ,
just need some spare UM guts. LOL

I actually need to get a 3S setup. Does anyone know what diode(s) I would need?

Thanks,

The same. Battery voltage doesn't really matter. Its the BEC voltage that is being reduced by the diode. You could use a 10S ESC if the BEC voltage was 5.0V

Thanks UNGN. So there I have it. 3S/AR6400 combo with the 1N400X diode...so cool.

For the 2S set up used with 2 1S batts - you just y off the power lines and add in two 1S connectors correct?

yeah .. but series , as the 2s name implies,
just test V with your meter to be sure you got it ..

i made a 2x mini jst females to 1 Jst (red) , so i don;t have to change speed control .

i'm thinking same , i have some 160mah's still fresh un used so they woudl match up well.
now i need a plush & a new 5g BL , i thinkit will look nice in a p47d cowl .
needs 5 A .. at WOT with a 5x3gws .. but makes ~140g thrust .
my 2 160even at 20c only my a hair over 3A .. lol
so i may order a rhino 2s pack .

I have ordered a plush and have the AP05 BL so I am hoping to use it on some 2S projects.

Another brushed AR6400 question

No more questions..diodes solved my last issue.

I appreciate everyone ideas on getting a brushed ESC and motor to work off of the AR6400.

Everything works perfect as per UNGN's schematic.

Again, thanks to all for your help.

black bec / is actualy your bus gorund , it can / should go to the ground pin on brick where ESC / servo woud go .
basicly , hook up you ESC to the brick with just the red (bec +V high) lead off .
some esc's the ground(black/brown) side of the bec / signal wire is common but not linked to thier main ground in . ( isolated to reduce noise to brick )

Hey Razor,
I just saw this thread again.

Have you done any more work towards this little plane?
Matt
