Help me to remember my buggy from 1985

Hi

I fondly remember my first R/C car. It would have been around 1984-1985 when I was 14 years old.

I would have loved a Tamiya and spent hours reading the catalogs but I couldn't afford their models.

So instead I had to purchase another obscure make and model from a local shop in the UK. Probably around half the price of the entry-level Tamiyas. But it was great, it seemed to be just as good if not better than the Tamiya's that my friends had. Extremely strong and very fast!

I'd love to find out what it was, and locate a picture online.

OK, here's the details that I remember:
  • It was a full-blown kit, everything had to built
  • Bright yellow flexible plastic or polythene body. Looked like a sand-rail with a roof.
  • Chassis made of sheet metal, folded up at an angle on the sides.
  • Speed controller was a rotating disc (i suppose they all were).
  • No waterproofing or weatherproofing.

Not much to go on, please come with suggestions!

nice try but no.

Actually it had the same body shape but it didn't have the rear wing. And then it had the metal sheet chassis that folded up at an angle at the sides (and possible front) to form a 'tray'.
