When joining wing halves together, I like to use an incidence meter on each tip to make sure they are the same and don't worry how the center section lines up.

By making sure the tips are at the same incidence, there should be little to no aileron trim required.

Another low cost tip is to buy baby socks for your mono coat irons. Make sure to get the thin dress socks.

The down side is my wife keeps asking why the kids socks have streaks of colors all over them though.

Thanks for that idea. I was about to make a LHS run today to pick up more socks, will be stopping by the Thrift store instead.

I use hollow core doors that you can buy from home depot or some such. They tend to be fairly level and they are large enough to set a model onto. Also the hollow core allows for t-pin usage.

Also decent advice when building, sometimes just walk away. Come back to it later.

EDIT: I went to the thrift store and bought some baby socks. They are the worst, I should have gotten the full dress socks as mentioned in the post. I got some that were close, they seem to be wearing out faster than an actual iron sock. The bright side is I essentially got 4 of them for what 1 iron sock costs.

Excellent advise!

Sorry bout the sock deal. I will admit, the sock Im using is 20-30 years old. No tellin what its made of and Im still using it, same one. Think you would have to have 100% cotton.

It would be great for me to hear from you guys what specific tools you love in your shop?

The Xacto knife is great but the 100 pack of replacement blades is better

The GP sanding T-bars are expensive but great.

I have a Johnson Angle Finder (google it) and its great.

Dunno what I would do without my Vernier Caliper

I had been fumbling with those handy EZ connects like the ones shown. I used a hammer and a block of wood. But recently drilled a hole in a pliers jaw for the job. Now i simply line stuff up in the pliers jaw and squeeze a little to set the retainer on the stud.

i just use the plastic ends and immediately replace the screws with longer cap heads

The ones I use have the hardened hex head set screws... Du Bro maybe? I use only the metal retainers just for keeps.
