X10 "Viper" flying wing UAV
Few days ago received X10 "Viper" flying wing kit from GreenAirDesigns.
Its huge. 2.95m wingspan.
Build log - as a plane - is in http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1829495
Here - more about UAV usage.
Plan: UAV based on APM 2.5 (new one - http://store.diydrones.com/APM_2_5_N...2-telem433.htm) for surveilance and ortophotos.
Main reason for this choice - very good experience with APM2 and wing - MaxiSwift ( some videos )
RC - RangeLink
Video - 5.8 GHz, Tx - 1.2W, circular polarized antennas,
Photo: Panasonic SX230 with GPS
Video camera:HD GoPro + WDR Pixim Wolf
On the ground - MFD AAT tracker.
Now - thinking about photocamera installation for ortophotography. What kind of gimbal? One axis - only for compensation side movements? or two axsis?
What's your opinions about this plane/project?

That thing looks sweet
Just wondering if anyone knows, is there any correlation in why this is called the x10, the skywalker wing Is an x8, and the smaller skywalker wing is the x5?is it just size and they copied the X and number naming or what?
I'm very interested in this thread. Trying to decide between fabricating or buying a UAV candidate frame

As stated before, if it has the same airfoil and configuration as the X5 and the X8 it will likely not have the most desirable flight characteristics. The X5 has a string of bad habits that have been documented in several threads. The X8 continued that heritage along with a few extra things as noted in this thread http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...3&highlight=x8.
I had high hopes for the X8 because its' price point makes it very attractive. Even with extensive modifications, the performance of the ship offset any economic advantages.
