Help!
Need help finding a part..

I have searched for hours before coming here.. I have checked every xploded parts view manual, every local hobby shop, every person I know that has or has had an rc car in the last 10 years. I cannot for the life of me identify what model this part is from, and either has anyone else. The frame is a losi xxx graphite and thats all I know. The part in question, is the rear axle. It has two parts, the one you see in the picture is damaged. That part is a sleeve that goes over the other sleeve that is attached to the wheel. There are 4 grooves in the sleeve and they mesh together for a nice form fit. I cant find this part anywhere and I don't want to write this thing off since I just got it.

Seems like a universal joint. Perhaps one from a similar car would fit?

Are you sure it's a XXX? Any XXX I've seen has a metal CVD or metal dogbone with universal joint on the wheel end, not a plastic driveshaft like this.

If you swap to the other outdrive you could run the easier to find CVD/dogbone with universal joint, but I'm not sure how much that will cost in parts.

If it really is a XXX with these plastic shafts you could convert using these parts, which are what I've seen on every XXX I've ever seen.

two of these: http://www.losipartshouse.com/servle...X-dsh-T/Detail

if it's a truck, two of these: http://www.losipartshouse.com/servle...XT%2CNT/Detail

if it's a buggy, two of these: http://www.losipartshouse.com/servle...e-Shaft/Detail

The frame is definitely an xxx, it still has some of its markings on the bottom. The drive system may be something entirely different but in my 3am searching, I found some info on them. What I read said something about factory drivers using them and creating a demand for them. Whether or not that is true, is beyond me. They do have conversion kits available http://sabulatech.com/storefront/pro...d_product=1308

I will try to fabricate something before ordering any other parts as I really don't want to put any more money into this thing.

Thanks for the links!

^^ If you read that link carefully, it was for XX buggies and XXT trucks, not XXX buggies and XXXT trucks.

Any pictures of the car/truck as a whole? I've also never seen a XXX with big distinct markings on it anywhere.

Yeah I saw that when I ordered but it looks like the exact same part, and it was the only part like that I found in countless hours of searching. Figured it would be worth it, even if its just a shot in the dark. I took some pics of the "xxx" markings and the "graphite" markings on the bottom/back of the frame. Don't mind the dirt, I remembered you asked for pics when I was out bashing

That is the motor I ended up getting at the hobbyshop as the other motor just died and I didnt want to wait for the brushless setup. I have to say, I am glad I spent the $25 vs the $70+ as this thing moves as fast as I want it to. I literally cant even open it up at the track as I run out of room quick. Runs a bit hot but it works

edit// I also found a temporary fix on that piece. I shaved off the broken area and the side opposite to it, then drilled new holes as the shaft is long enough to still have a nice fit with the new holes. Sucks though because if it happens again, I am sol. I did however learn that I have way too much fun with these things and ordered a new brushless 4x4 so we will see if that gets the job done

Thanks gumby I found them here http://sabulatech.com/storefront/pro...id_product=781 but they are out of stock and I cannot for the life of me find them anywhere else. I ordered the wrong size in hopes of cutting them down but who knows... Maybe I will piece together a new rear end one of these days as the case is pretty bad as is. Got a spare axle/rear end setup you want to get rid of?

Here is the exerpt I was talking about earlier on parsons:

"This new differential is designed to use the plastic "slider" type drive shafts. This was a design that many thought was incorporated only for cost reasons but the truth is that there are conditions in which the plastic drive shafts out-perform the dogbone type drive shafts. Once the team drivers started using the slider drive shafts Team Losi decided to offer a conversion kit so that anyone with a Double-X transmission could try them out.
The fact that the plastic differential and outdrives are less than the weight of the standard steel outdrives and dogbones makes them ideal for stock class racing. Less rotating weight results in quicker acceleration which is important in the stock class. The sliders also work in the modified class. The biggest advantage comes when the track is extra slick or extremely bumpy. If the track is bumpy and slick all the better.
It will fit any Double-X or Double-X retro-fit transmission."
