Ripmax dagger

Hi all,

Recently I discovered this racer in my shop of choice the following model:
Ripmax Dagger
https://www.rc-passion.ch/de/racers-...rtf-combo.html

it looks really hot and fast, has anyone already built and/or flown it?

I am considering to buy the combo version (which is the Ripmax suggested bundle). Any experience?

Hi nib,
last week I ordered one from Germany (guess it's a brand new wing here in Europe because there isn't any shop in Austria which has got this plane in stock).

The Dagger arrived on Friday - I had to finish another project first - but now I'll start to build this delta wing.

I'd like to fly this wing rather fast - the manufacterer recommends a 1250kV motor (35mm diameter, 151g) with a 7x7 prop on 4s (with a 60A SBEC).

Could anybody be so kind to recommend some motor/ESC combos!?

Wasn't a big deal to "build" this wing - I'm almost done; I'll try the Himax C3516-1350 motor (with a 3S lipo).

Where did you end up setting the CG?

I have mine as per the manual, but not yet flown it. Weather is still too cold and wet.

Maiden flight yesterday. The CG was too far forward and the throws of the elevons must be set to a very low rate. I almost ran it into the ground as it headed straight downwards. I had to trim the elevator a good amount upwards and didn't go faster than half throttle as even 50% of throw with 60% expo was way too much. As there were too many people on the field yesterday, I had only this one flight. Hopefully there is more room and time to test tomorrow.

I just picked up one of these secondhand without electrics.

Any chance anyone could advise the recommended cog and any photos of their setup?

I'm thinking a 35mm 1250kv on 4s.

Thanks for any advice

Goody,

somewhere I have read that 4s will make too many vibrations, but I don't remember where. I have a 1500kv motor on 3s, with a full battery it will draw nearly 50A and, honestly, it could be a little faster. Also, I have switched to a folding prop as I killed a standard one every second flight. I also found that it is best to set the elevator a little to the up side as I nearly smashed it in the ground on the first flight and had to trim quite a lot up. I then set the elevator to approximately 2mm and now it flies straight and level.

Thanks for that info

What size motor and lipo are you using?

Cheers

I use an Emax GT2812 with 1550kv on a 3s2200. I still have a Turnigy D3536 with 1450kv which I will test some time. The Emax is quite loud, but so far I could not find to source to the sound. Might be some bad bearings or vibrations from the front of the fuselage.

Hi guys, sorry to revive this thread but was reading your experiences with interest.

I built my Ripmax Dagger last year but it has yet to fly:

Here is optional Ripmax prop driver (essential to avoid vibrations!)

I had issues with my club flying field and we are moving to a new site very soon.

Mine hass the stock Quantum motor set up but installation was a bitch, I tell you, - there is so little room!

I will take the advice about adding some up on the elevons. Cheers.

Guys: THESE two publications are a must-have read for those building a Ripmax Dagger and mention the vibration issues plus full build and flight-testing reviews:
