According to the latest update, they were manoeuvering the fish boat into dry dock when it lost power. They got it restarted, and it surged ahead. Somehow it was in gear when the engine fired up again. Still investigating.

Ok this is what I was told(from dockyard supervisors and navy personel),
the water that went over the bow, was from a water holding tank in the front of the trawler. When the impact happened, it crushed the tank about 3/4 the way up the tank thus overflowing onto the deck. The navy ship was pushed up(from the shape of the hull sides) into and onto the jetti both on the right side and the stern. Basicly pushed it into a corner. The trawler was being tow assisted, but they had a power blackout and when it started back up, it was either in gear or was put into gear when the power was out(investigation pending).

Min 5 million to the navy vessel(which just came out of drydock), the trawler was heading into drydock for some repairs, they just need to add a bow section to the work scheduled.

USS Cushing DD-985. We had some FFGs with us on some of the trips. The Curts might have been one. I remember your ship being around 32nd street.
