There are many companies that use SBUS these days. It is becoming a standard. Most of the FrSky open source Taranis and Taranis Plus receivers have SBUS. I have a Taranis Plus and it sure makes interface with flight controllers and autopilots much easier.

The reason for popularity is that itís much faster than PPM protocol especially if you have 8 channels or more.
