Man, that hatch doesn't fit worth a $darn :-) I just got one and the quality looks great for the price. Hope my hatch fits better than that.... I think I'll go 6s w/ electric retracts.

wow, that looks great with the retracts! I know you bought the Tam's seperately, but did you have to mod it for retracts or did it come reatrcat ready?

EDIT: Nevermind, just watched the end of the vid and see the mod for the retracts

Welcome to RCG.
I am finishing one of these also.
I had a Predator that flew ok on its maiden then the next time I went out on a gusty wind day and ground looped it and damaging the nose.

My F86 will fly without retracts as I did not see how to fit them in but I have a set and will mod it later this winter when the conditions are less conducive to having fun.
The setup is a Midi, Nue 1415 1.5Y on 8s ~2.5Kw. Seeing the ducting that FlyBoyTha1 did that will also be a winter job, for the moment it will use an inlet lip. The empty weight is 3lb 12oz so it should come out to ~7lb.

What's the finish on these jets?

I know the fuse must be paint over glass, but what about the wings and tail?

Also, Does the stab have the dihedral in it? Doesn't look like it from the pics. Although I guess that would be an easy mod.

I've been looking around for me a "store bought" jet. Built five planes in a years time, I'm a little wore out. Might give this one a shot.
Of course I'd have to do something about the nose.

Hi Boogie,

Wings and stab are wood covered in monokote or similar covering. The stab has a little dihedral built into the dowel/spar hole, I will take a picture of it when I get on it again tomorrow.
The fuse is glass/polyester I think.
The build time so far on mine is ~5 hours.
Still need to make the fan/radio install.
Been thinking about the nose too.
Flyboys video makes it look like a good flyer.

Do you think a Dynemax could fit in the F86? If the weight could stay down around 10 lbs I think it could have enough thrust on 10S. Opinions please.

Is there a 5s system that would make this thing scoot? or is the 100mm stuff in the 6s+ realm.

I do have some 3s 3000mAh 20c packs I could double up in there. But I just bought three 5s 40c packs.

The 100mm fan that comes from Himax has a 6s ~1800-1900watt motor in it.

I used a Himax Fan with a Scorpion Motor HK3026-1400 V2
