thanks ralph i have contacted him so hopefully he will send some to the UK. there would be no customs costs for anything shipped between europe as most all member states charge some form of VAT . i will let you know if he can oblige me, if not i will take you up on your kind offer, do you have a paypal account? if not i can send the money by registered mail

well i have done an initial wind on my HK4025, 6T 2 x 0.81mm this gives ~14336 circular mils of copper per slot, the factory wind (6T 20x0.25mm) gives ~24000 circular mils. i will of course wind it with better copper fill when my 1.4mm wire arrives and this will give me ~37620 circular mils per slot, this is approximately 50% more copper per slot over the factory wind.

following the guide on ralph's site about using the 0.5mm GF plate as isolation plates turned out to be a very easy exercise, just using hand files to take it down to the shape of the stator then using the dremel to round out the plate edges. i have attached some photo's of the build progress so far to this post and just for fun i have taken a time lapse video of me rounding the stator edges with the dremel, you can watch it here lol >>

Rounding the Stator Isoplate (0 min 0 sec)

i will post some preliminary numbers once i get the testing done

thanks guys , but it's easy to make the ABC winding pattern look nice, hopefully i will get it tested this weekend as i'm expecting the 1.4mm wire to arrive on monday.

ralph do you know of a source for small amounts of fish paper like georges sends with the kits?

Heck Phil, I can be proud of my Scottish ancestry! - I knew you guys made good Malt Whiskey, but I didn't know you could produce such fine art with copper wire!

guys you are making this gruff scotsman blush but thanks for the compliments, it's always nice to recieve them

thanks for the info ralph, i have some kapton tape that i use when assembling battery packs etc but i think it's only 0.025mm thick, i might purchase some 0.1mm to try in the future. i also have a sample of some Mitsubishi 0.125mm thick hostaphan WN on the way so i hope this will be a nice choice for this purpose (i have attached the data sheet to this post). hopefully the sample will be big enough for a few motors

well my sample of the hostaphan WN 0.125mm thick insulation material has arrived and it turns out that the supplier has been very generous with the sample size so if you would like a couple of A4 sized sheets to try it ralph let me know and i'll send them over to you
