70mm HKS motor fan unit

I've been playing with this fan/motor combo I got from proedf. For $50 this unit is a real bargain. With a 2600/4s Hyperion 35c I got 1072 watts 45,000rpm
Spooled up nice and smooth. Used a plug and play HK SS90 esc.
Looking forward to getting it flying. I took it up
the field to show a friend and he asked me to order a couple for him. There
was a bit of a hiccup with system. Anyway Jack sorted it out and kept me happy and even phoned me up today to check if I got the order okay.
Nice customer service He mentioned they have a 90mm unit coming soon.
I have no other connection with Proedf other than being a happy customer!

How is this set up working?

Spadkun,

A few questions please. Looks like this is a WM-400 pusher clone, does it come with exhaust cone and center exit fairing as well? What are your thoughts on this unit now?

Thanks
Jeff

Hi Jeff
Yes, this seems to be a clone of the wm-4oo and no it does not come with any tail cone or fairing. I was very impressed how smooth this unit was with no balancing, maybe I was just lucky The power it put out is awesome. I got 1500g thrust and for $50 plus $15 shipping is a real bargain IMO.
The fan unit is fairly heavy at 250g. The fan only is also on the HobbyKing site.
I am building the Pro edf "Silvia" at the moment, I planned to used this unit but it would have made the plane nose heavy due to its weight and pusher arrangement. I also have a twister in the build queue and plan to put it in that.

I have 2 of these fan/motor units lying around. Planning to use it in a HET Mig 29 which I will be ordering soon. How was your experience with these fan/motors?
