Yeah, I'm also fine with 2s in this plane. But then I use TP 325 70c BabbelBatts, which provide the highest top speed & highest thrust-to-weight of any 2s pack that can be made to fit this plane & still end up with the CG at the sweet-spot. Here are examples of the top-end & vertical performance I get with my TP 325 70c 2s BabbelBatts.

Sans gear:

UMX MiG 15 sans gear - performance demo (5 min 18 sec)

With gear:

Eflite UMX MiG 15 - full-stall landing practice (4 min 19 sec)

I'm not having the same luck…
Thanks Alan
Hey Alan,

My two Beast 3Ds, Pitts, Yak, Icon & Habu all love 3S power.
My MiG does not.

KG provided us with some good micro heat sink pics.

You might give that a try.

BTW: Many would be shocked at the performance of my Habu on 3S!!

After watching the vid it sure reminds me how much I miss my little Mig. SOB.SOB.
A student pilot that shouldn't have been flying by himself, knocked the trans out of my hand with his plane, causing me to drop it when the Mig was running at full throttle. Demolished it when it hit the ground.
Wish they would start putting them out again. This was one of my favorites.

Great videos Joel. Now that I have been flying my MIG for several weeks with the stock battery, I can really appreciate the difference that you're getting from the thunder power. When you say "made to fit" how much modification doesn't actually require? Are you cutting away a lot of foam? And having done that where does the battery and up sitting in that space, fore and aft?

I made a pocket so I can flush-mount the TP 325. CG is neutral with the pack in this position.

Thanks for the photo -- that sure clears things up. My MIG flight this morning with the stock 200 mAh battery looked positively anemic by comparison. Not that I'm looking to go that much faster, but even a loop is a bit of a challenge with this battery.

WOW! I had no idea there was that much 'dead space' foam available behind the stock battery compartment! Thanks for having the guts to carve into the body and move the pack back.

You're welcome! Be careful, though, as there isn't a lot of room for error in some spots. Don't make the pocket any deeper than absolutely necessary.

I have been flying 3S on 3 Migs with no problem... But may be because of elevation (1000m) and no super hot temperatures?
I flew them on various 3S batteries and it is an adrenaline rush, but for s shorter duration than on 2S: I have to land at 3mins.
