Why? Feda has been super to deal with and I have had no issues getting planes from him. Plus any issue I have had he has without question replaced it. I have had nothing but STELLAR service from them.

Would you save much?

You might save a bit on shipping, but I'm guessing the kits would have to be priced higher anyway by the time they're shipped to a US supplier.

Got my kit finished, but it's rained all week and wont clear till next week.

I flew mine on Tuesday...





...for about 5 seconds until the dodgy HC prop and adapter flew off. My observations from that flight were that this bird glides beautifully.

I had another flight today with a better prop adapter and a 10x7 prop.

What can I say, this bird is rock solid and flies beautifully. I mostly flew at low rates, but tried a few snap rolls and loops.

Still got to work on my hovers and harriers, but I'm liking it so far.

I've been having lots of fun with my Skywing MXS so I just ordered a yellow Extra to have as a backup .

Fancy that,I ordered a yellow as well!
What power setup are you using Groovejet?
Also do you think that HS65 (Karbonite gears) will be enough? I do have a spare 81mg for the rudder if you think it is needed.

Hey Bleary,

It sure looks great in yellow. I started off flying my Skywing MXS on a Turnigy 3542 SK 1000kv motor with an APC 12x6e prop. nac still flies his MXS on that motor and prop. I had a Scorpion 3020-890 spare, so I installed that with an APC 13x6.5e prop to see how it flew. The vertical climb rate is similar on those 2 motors. From memory I think the Scorpion climbs a little quicker than the Turnigy SK but there isn't much in it. The Scorpion is much more efficient (Scorp: 40A, Turnigy: 46A) and the Scorpion stays cooler on hot days. The Turnigy SK is a good budget option and is lighter than the Scorpion motor.

I ordered another Scorpion 3020-890 so that both of my Skywing 48" planes will fly on the same power setup. I plan to use the same servos too; MG14 all 'round with long CF servo arms as sold by www.bestvaluerc.com. I reckon you're better off using metal gears servos in your Extra; at least in the elevator and rudder. You might get away with using HS65HB servos on the ailerons but I personally wouldn't risk it. If the budget allows, perhaps spring for some cheapy metal gear servos like the MG14s. I have used heaps of these servos and have been very happy with their performance. The servo cutouts are sized for something like an MG14 or HS65, so fitting a HS81MG would require enlarging the hole. I think I may have needed to slightly enlarge the servo holes to get MG14 servos in there; if so, it was only a small amount but HS81/82/85 servos would need a much larger hole I think.

Thanks for that info GJ,I ordered the combo deal with the AX 1000kv motor,so will see how that goes.In regard to servos,I have flogged the hell out of HS65 on 48" balsa planes without too many dramas,though I have stripped a few from abuse.I actually prefer the Karbonite gear version for their precision as compared to the MG versions which I find can get a bit sloppy.
I'll give em a go cos I have 2 spare,maybe get another couple with a MG on the tail,I think the 81 is too big also,so thanks for that mate.

Nice flying in the wind feda. Your headcam seems to be working quite well as it keeps the plane in the frame most of the time. I like your flying area as there's a good grass field for mishaps like in your video and there's a good asphalt surface to use as a runway. Did your mishap cause much damage to the plane?
