In the on road car section I reckon big rigs might stay lonely.

Gday Peacekeeper94,
Here's mine - Tamiya MAN TGX 26.540, 6x4 XLX. Friggen awesome. Hauls beer, me or the kids on the skateboard, cars and boats. Heaps of aftermarket parts on this puppy. I didn't worry about the mfu either as it is an old overexpensive unit. Just did lights. Full build thread here: http://www.radiocontrolinfo.com/foru...php?f=14&t=121

These RC tractor trailers are ultra-cool. Tamiya is a great source to get one of these rigs and you can also try Precision Model Distributors that brings in Wedico trucks.

Here are two links for each of the aforementioned brands:

Nice ride, Pete! What's the bug and boat specs? I like your choice of trailers too. I love the wood deck on the flatbeds. And I agree with you on the MFU. They are way over priced. And if you use it you have to take out the seats, and I didn't want to give up my interior details. What ESC did you use?

I've noticed that the Tamiya Semi Trucks are very popular in Australia and Europe, but not so much in the U.S. I can't find ANYONE to run with.

Thanks Kev.
Bug is a mini losi, 4800kv on 2s. Wheelie machine, lots of fun. Boat is the small bolt from hobbyking, mostly stock.
Yer, the Tamiya big rig kit was one of most interesting builds I have ever done. I spent ages varnishing the wood trailer deck to make it look real neat. I'm using the Axial AE-2 esc and a CC bec running 3s lipo with the 65T crawler motor. Awesome low end grunt & flighty top end. It's got Carson Crossforce semi offroad tyres, aftermarket wheel arches, metal rear bumper and full ball bearings, even on the trailer, lol. I got all the parts and MAN stickers off a UK ebayer who loves the trucks too.
None of my mates own a big rig either, so I just potter around too. They like the fast stuff. I love the scale, the build and reverse parking with the trailer.
One day, I'd like that Shell tanker trailer..
Rgds,
Pete

Thanks! I liked the Knight Hauler because it was more modern but still had stacks and a sleeper. I had the 'Freightliner' logo made at a local trophy shop. Mine has full bearings also, including the trailer.

The big rigs have a 3 speed gearbox shifted by the 3 position switch on any given TX that has one. Stock, with the Mabuchi 540 brushed can in top gear, I would guess around 25-35km/h. Way over scale speed for the rig.
Even with 65t motor running just over 12volts, the truck scoots along in top gear. I'm sure the gearbox is not designed for high rpm motors.

Pete

I put my Garmin GPS on the flatbed one day and got a top speed of 16 mph. It feels like its flying though because it's so big. (44 inches long overall.)

This truck on CL would make for a fine scale project for the airbrush enthusiast
