Blade 550X Unboxing Video and Build Log

Picked up a new Blade 550X Pro Series from my local hobby shop.
Here is the Unboxing Review, my initial thoughts, and a complete Build Log.
I have built and flown close to 70+ helicopters. At least 20 of those were Blade helis. I've also used countless Blade helis to teach recomers getting into the hobby. I am really looking forward to seeing how Blade has stepped it up!

Blade 550X Pro Series Unboxing Review by Chris Reibert (12 min 34 sec)

Just getting the parts bags laid out and looking everything over.

Let the Build Begin!!!

Airframe Build Complete:
Build Time about 4hrs

All parts went together flawlessly
Tolerances are perfect, all parts move freely, carbon fiber smooth, canopy finish nice
Blade really stepped it up on their first "kit" build!

As always good review chris... what do you think of the revolution blades ? Flown them yet ? Thinking of ordering a set for my Gaui & Align.

As far as the 550X... I looked it over good at a fun fly.. looks like a solid, high marks heli.

Blades seem nice. Just built the airframe this morning. Electronics session will hopefully be in the next few days granted I have time. Work is swamped!

Really high and as long as it flys how it builds the X series should give Align a run for their $$$!!!

Chris: whats up with you not having a pm box ? ... Off topic but would like your opinion.. I'm working on some heli tricks..And I just no longer care to go thru the learning curve on my bigger stuff. ( gets expensive ) I think you have a 130X right ?? ..Whats your overall opinion of that bird ? I'm also considering the 300X.

I don't mind $20-$30 repair bills..So whatever micro I pick up I just need for it to have some balls and hold a tail. Have an Mcpx V2 now..But its gutless. Most I can get out of that is some stand still inverted .

Isn't it under my name in my avatar?

Ok so ?
I had I 130X it's my dads now. I enjoying buying and trying out different birds.
Usually my father buys my hand me downs. He loves his 130! He had to have over 100 flights on it now. It's his "go to" bird. Nice machine for the price, easy to fix, and upgrades to fix any stock issues are cheap.

The 300X is another fun buget bird. I've owned 6 I think? My dad has my last one. That is his me "big" bird. He is really enjoying it also. Out of the 6 I owned one had a bad BeastX issue and I sent it back to get it resolved.

You can find then pretty cheap, I'd say pull the trigger on a 300X over a 130X all day!!! I Hate wrenching on micros/sub micros

LOL @ Me.... been here 3 years now and I have just learned that one can "pm" under an avatar..ha ha ... I have always gone to the persons page.

Thanks for the info. I have Never had such a hard time on deciding on what micro is best suited for my intentions...300x - 130x - MCPX BL ....this is a crazy tuff decision.

It pains me to drop $200 - $300 for something that fits in the palm of my hand. ha...But I seriously need to learn how to do these Inv. hurricanes

The 300X is more bang for the buck, easier to wrench on, and you don't need upgrades to get it to fly good. Plus it feels more like a 450 size Heli.

Ok..Done. Ordered the 300X... All I ask is that it holds a tail, and cheaper to crash then a 450 trying to learn this I.H ..Worst case scenario I have a nice Ar7200BX out of it for future builds.

Back to your 550X thread CR .

Going by helifreak, looks like its becoming a very popular machine.
