Pekin R\C Club-Pekin IL
AMA Chapter 755-IMAA Chapter 37
The Pekin R/C Club, formed in the early 70’s found a home at Hermon Lowery Field in Everett Mckinley Dirksen Park, Illinois. In its early days the field was very crude, as you can see in the photos, barely more then an old farm barn yard. But the founders saw the potential and the opportunity to have a permanent Club field. After many years of hard work the Field began to take shape and evolved into what you see today. The old barn has long been removed and the holes filled in. There was a fence installed to mark the boundaries between the field and the public area. Restrooms were built and a pavilion was erected for shelter from the sun. The field now boasts a 25ft by 175ft asphalt runway for those with the skill to use it. It is amazing how far we've come.
