I'd suggest mounting the engine another 1/2" further forward.

I do have a high resolution pdf scan of the plan somewhere.

Ray,

I built one to the plan and it flew beautifully. Motor was a PAW plain bearing CT.
so with a TBR a 1/4 to 1/2 would work well. Or move the wing back.

Ah Greg, I'd forgotten about yours.

The two I mentioned were Dave's and Brent's both with OTC.

Unusually the PAW plain bearing bushed blue headed 1.5cc diesel is considerably heavier than either it's twin ball bearing brother or the Oliver Cub.

That might explain your contrary result.

I do have a hi res scan of the plan (1.1 Meg). It just needs rescaling.

I thought the Thunder Thrush might have been posted in the Control Line Team Racer plans and pictures thread ... but apparently not.

I'll sort out the proper scale for my copy, turn it into a pdf and post it in the next few days.

I've also found the VTRSIG plan for the 1/2A Nurk. We had one of these in the late 90's and it was spot on. I suspect that John Nolan had a good'in as well.

I'll get it scanned the next time round.

There is also a short thread about the Thunder Thrush here:

with a small plan of it.

That's a nice little model but I'm sure that isn't the 6x6 Graupner the Poms use.

I'd guess that the right one would be the 6x6 Graupner "Grey". I tried those electric props and they were far too flimsy.

Pity about the MVVS as well. They're well within the rice pudding skin pulling power curve.

I'll do the plan tonight.

Wayne Trivin was a first class modeller, his pages have been kept by the NCLRA as a tribute to his skill as a modeller.

Ok,

here's the pdf of the Thunder Thrush Vintage 1/2A team racer for 1.5cc diesel engines. I've scaled it to a span of 19" as it's the largest dimension on the plan. Otherwise the wing chord and the wheel size are slightly smaller in actuality c/w their dimensions. I suspect that the paper plan from which this was scanned was a photo copy of a photo copy ... etc.

There's a nice bit of British Pythonese humor in the name "Thunder Thrush". It's a scaled down Mercury B class TR called a "Thunderbird".

If you pass the plan on can you include a note about the probable necessity to extend the nose 0.25 to 0.5" or to move the wing back the same distance if using a CS Oliver Cub clone or a real one.

I've submitted plan and pic to Hippocket.
