This has a wing span of 87-88" and fuselage length of 72"? Construction is wood with some foam to support curved surfaces. I thought it might also be an Extra. Someone gave this to my father-in-law who gave it to me. He thinks its an Aeroworks product. I can't be sure. Help figuring this out would be appreciated.

Just a guess from the photos but it looks like a Sukhoi 29 or YAK 54 but I get a mite confused unless they are assembled and sitting side by side. One thing I'm 100% sure of, it isn't an Extra.

That's a Yak 54. Not sure of the make. Yak is short for Yakovlev which is a Russian airplane manufacturer. They made a variety of aerobatic models including the 54, 55, 52, etc. The Yak 54 and 55 are similar to the Sukhoi in design. The 54 in particular is highly aerobatic and is one of those planes that you can really throw around the sky without it losing its cool. Even though its so aerobatic it is as docile as a fast trainer when landing or slow maneuvering if its kept light. Yours is about a 50-60cc size based on the wingspan.

If you get that one together its almost guaranteed to become your favorite plane.
