Question
Scratchbuilt Parkflyer - Power Setup Suggestions

Hi all,

I'm looking at building a few dollar tree foam models and wanted to know what everyone's experience has been with different power setups for these models.

I have spare RX's kicking around but would be buying the brushless motor, esc and batteries new. My biggest question is what do you all consider your go-to powertrain for your park-flyer sized foamies? (battery mAH capacity, cell# and motor size and brand/model)

I'm leaning towards a 3c setup, would like flight times around 10 mins if possible, wouldn't be doing FPV but would like to mount a stripped down Mobius video camera at some point.

Sorry if this is a repeat of someone else's question, I tried searching the forum but didn't come up with anything specific.

Thanks!

If you click on my username and browse my blog, you can get a feel for the type and size of DTF planes I build and fly (30-40" span, 7-16oz ) - most of the onesheeters are DTF. For virtually all of them the gear is as follows: 1700kv 24 gram motor (blue wonder), 7x6 APC style prop, 8-10 amp HobbyKing ss ESC, 2s 800-950mah lipo. 5 or 9 gm hextronix servos (hxt500 or hxt900). If you are interested in 3s, then a 1300 or 1500kv BW is better, but I find 2s is plenty fast for me. Flight times vary from 6 to 18 minutes depending on plane and how much I use the left stick. I have flown several with the key fob cams, Möbius should do OK as well . if you are looking for a real AP plane or fpv, then you want larger planes and gear.

+1 for Springer's electronics for " just cruisin' around " planes . For speedier planes ( F15 , etc ) the 3000 kv Blue Wonder motor works well .
