Yeppers, I think I peed myself a little flying this beast!

It's the largest aircraft I've flown to date (except my uncles 1946 Stinson station wagon).

Had to RE glue the tail with good ole white Gorilla glue in that the forces are MUCH greater on this ICON than on my smaller one.

Special thanx to YOU and Cubcrazy and all the other folk on this thread before me!

I had some amazing time with my Icon fleet today. Winds were high at first, so I installed the alternate motor in the big DZ Icon. Then I took her out for a spin. This one is perky.

New motor (6 min 10 sec)

Blue skies.

Yea I recalled that you were trying to get in your maiden before leave time. It's been crickets around here for a while. I really expected a Beaver post from BattleDude by now.

The new motor seems to be a better choice. It shaved off 37 grams aft of CG. And throttle response is much more crisp. Plus it sounds better. And by better, I mean louder and more intimidating.

I'm still looking forward to seeing the retracts in action at your amazing flying field when you get back. The biggie should look impressive on that runway.

Thanks for sharing!

I was hoping to see you drive into/out of the water on the gear again though. That was priceless.

Retracts ...

Actually, between those flights, the retract servo burned out (as someone in this thread predicted). Working on another solution for the retracts, hoping to post pictures soon.

New retract solution

The link to two video's showing the new retract system.
Both main and front landing gear are powered by a small linear actuator (Firgelli) mounted towards the rear of the fuselage, the servo in front is only functioning as a bearing/rotation point for driving the front landing gear, I've recycled the body and the bearing of the old LG servo that went up in smoke.
I place my power packs above the receiver and other equipment using the two foam supports left and right.
